Well, things gang aft agley indeed. The newsletter looked fine in all the tests, but when it finally went out this morning for real, nearly everyone received a blank email! 200 newsletters got sent, before I finally found out (thanks to several of you who reported in).
I thought about including an apology for the duplicates, in the newsletter when I resend it. But that is so distracting, I decided against it. I do apologize for the duplicates, to those few of you who actually could read the newsletter the first time.
A dozen people dutifully and nobly clicked the link to update their signup information. Disappointingly though, not a single one of the 660 people on the list checked the “qualified NOW” box. One person helpfully commented that people are unlikely to want to give that information on a web form. So I added a line to the form suggesting that people call, in that event. All very awkward, but I think that’s the best we can do. Moving forward, new people signing up will have a chance to answer that question up front.
