Making TWO lists, actually.
I talked to Western Mass AFSC and Traprock Peace Center staff to see if I might get a copy of their media contact lists for newspaper, radio, etc. in the Pioneer Valley. Both Doug and Liz were very helpful. AFSC’s 46-page list (originally from riseup.net) is quite comprehensive, but it was last [...]

Making a List
Ach
Well, things gang aft agley indeed. The newsletter looked fine in all the tests, but when it finally went out this morning for real, nearly everyone received a blank email! 200 newsletters got sent, before I finally found out (thanks to several of you who reported in).
I thought about including an apology for the duplicates, [...]
Newsletter At Last
Okay! The web server has settled down. The newsletter is optimized to not look like spam. I tested it with SpamAssassin set very very picky (.01). I have a bounce-processor ready to go so that rejected messages can be resent in a simpler format.
I did some research about the best weekday and time to send [...]
Pumpkins
At two parties this weekend, as usual, people wanted to hear about the common good bank project. Either “what is it” or “how’s it going?”. Still passionate about it’s possibilities, I am always happy to oblige.
One of the parties was for pumpkin-carving. Here’s mine, along with its negative image.
Sigh
Another 2 days experimenting with sending dozens of variations of the draft email newsletter. Tech support finally threw up their hands and said they don’t know why their server is rejecting it.
I finally figured out that the “policy violation” message really means that their software thinks our newsletter is spam. So I actually read through [...]
Getting There
At midnight last night the whole website was down. So most of today again, I spent talking to tech support about website issues. While on hold, I made a “fullscreen” link for the video slideshow (because youtube did not offer that option for some browsers). I did manage finally to upload a decent resolution video, [...]
Slog
Iyiyiyiyi. Our web hosting company insists that it’s not their problem if other servers “greylist” us and the server companies that are refusing to accept the newsletter are not being helpful either. So today I spent a few hours testing — deleting different parts and amounts of the newsletter and resending to an agreeable advisory [...]
Sustainable Creosote Disposal
It’s Saturday and yes I did have conversations about the common good bank project at Farmer’s Market this morning and followed up with tech support people about the email hassles. But mostly I am taking the day off, apart from some nonlinear philosophy.
So I cleaned the creosote out of our chimney. I had heard that [...]
Epic Email Hassles
Yesterday morning I sent a draft newsletter to our Advisory Board for criticism. 8 of those 50 emails bounced back, refused by the server and 3 bounced because the advisors had middle initials. I spent most of the day trying to figure out why and most of today revising the programs to create emails that [...]
Party
Most of today went to preparation for this month’s Local Investment Reception. The Swift River Group hosted. They gave us a tour of their grounds, including the former St. Anne’s Church and the old Strathmore Mill, on an island right downtown in Turner’s Falls, and described their very cool plans for a Film Production and [...]
