Partnerships and Collaboration

A fellow called today from Connecticut, representing a group there that is interested in partnering with us and creating a local Community Division. We discussed some details and I am emailing him a formal partnership proposal.
We rescheduled the October and November Invest Local investor receptions to October 15 and November 10. The Swift River Media [...]

More parties

I just spent another delightful weekend in Vermont, visiting family and celebrating old friends. As usual, the topic of the common good bank came up. In addition to a wonderful time, the two parties may have netted us a new investor or two and a new IT consultant or advisor.
We have a solution to the [...]

Influence

Apart from a dozen email conversations, most of the day went to meetings with a regional school superintendent and the president of a local community college. Both were provisionally enthusiastic and supportive about the project.

Juggling

The common good bank project is roaring ahead on many different fronts. Almost every day someone signs up as a probable future depositor/borrower/investor. Every day I contact one or more potential investors. Every day, we move forward in conversations with potential partners. Partner #8!

The big news today is that Class Action is partnering with us! That makes us eight organizations so far, with another dozen helping informally. Still working to [...]

Not much

I also spoke with a team of students at Western New England College School of Business, who are interested in revising our business plan to reflect our more community-based model, focused on [...]

Rural Means Travel

Carpooling. After getting my daughter off to school this morning, I carpooled with Andrew Baker (of the Hilltown CDC) to a meeting of the directors of various Western Massachusetts Community Development Corporations (CDCs). The meeting was in Ware, about 90 minutes from my home in Ashfield.
Presenting. I presented an overview of the common good bank [...]

A busy week

I’ll begin simply by mentioning a few events and activities from the past week.
Information Management. Having recently reprogrammed the project’s information management system, I continued consolidating the enormous backlog of paper and digital notes into a prioritized todo list, currently containing 171 items, relating to 86 distinct organizations or individuals. Yikes! No wonder I was [...]

How’s It Coming?

Hello friends of the common good! William Spademan here, bowing at last to the unarguably sensible urgings of many of you, that I keep you better informed about the project’s progress.
So here you go: an almost daily chronicle of the ups and downs and nittie grittie details of what’s happening and why and “when is [...]
