SUMMARY: Assists the Executive Director in carrying out the organization’s strategic plans and policies as established by the Board, to advance the organization’s mission.
REPORTS TO: the Executive Director.
HOURS: 20-25 hours per week. Telecommuting is a possibility.
COMPENSATION: Starting at $10 to $15 per hour, depending on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: General competence and maturity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize information and equipment, keep records.
- Monitor and assist with maintenance of the organization’s website.
- Interact with clients, vendors, and visitors.
- Create and modify diverse word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and financial documents.
- Conduct research, compile data, and prepare reports for the Executive Director, staff and Board of Directors.
- Interact with the organization’s Board of Directors.
- Make initial contacts to potential partner organizations, individuals, and foundations and follow up.
- Supervise volunteers and other support personnel.
- Prepare agendas and make arrangements for meetings.
- Set up and coordinate meetings, conferences, and presentations.
- Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member (if local).
- Attend occasional meetings, record minutes (if local).
- Compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings.
- Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence, including email.
- Prepare responses to routine inquiries.
- Make travel arrangements for staff, board and volunteers.
- Collect and maintain inventory of office equipment and supplies.
- Other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Above average computer skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management and general administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team.
