The Money Multiplier Game, the first game in our planned "Games-Based Financial Education Series", is finally ready. Here are the materials for that game. Please post here any suggestions for improvement.

Eric,

This is a great idea!  On the call today Mr. Spademan let us know that he has 10 different games in progress and he will be using one (or more?) of these games at a conference he is attending in two weeks.  I think the plan is to get what he has up on the organizers page shortly.

John and Rick are also apparently conducting an experiential exercise.  They are presenting tonight so hopefully they will post their experience by the end of next week.

I'm interested in finding resources on how to organize a event (one night or ongoing) that would allow community members to experience a simulation game of important components of the CGB model.  Such an event could offer a fun and practical way for curious and potential members have fun playing with these principles.

I'm not very familiar with many of the following democratic processes noted on the website:

liquid democracyCondorcetinstant runoff, approval votinginternet votingtown meeting style discussions and a spirit of consensus

  • You can vote directly on any issue, or let yourpersonal Representative vote for you (voting by proxy).
  • All family members get a vote. Underage voters vote by proxy.
  • Voters discuss issues at public "threshing" sessions and on the internet.
  • Voting begins on a certain day each week.
  • You may change your vote any time before the voting ends, a week later.
  • You can vote in person or on the internet.
  • Issues are presented as multiple-choice questions (or a penny vote, for budget-type issues). You grade all the options that are acceptable to you (A, B, C, D, E) or VETO any option that is completely unacceptable.
  • The most preferred option wins. However, if the winning option is vetoed by 5% or more of the voters, then those voters are given a second opportunity to voice their objections and the issue will be reconsidered and potentially revoted, with new understanding and new options. Meanwhile, the decision stands.
  • Leadership and the workplace have their own democratic structures as well.

I would guess that focusing on one or two of these processes at each event would be best and introduce more at future events.

Maybe simulating how a local currency could benefit our community, a monopoly-like game that demonstrates loans to only social/environmental responsible proposals, or visioning the benefits to return profits to the common good in our community.

The events could require a donation to participate or involve a founding membership invitation at its conclusion.
