Dear Friend of the Common Good,
Simplicity
This summer, Common Good Finance engaged the services of ALIVE Communities (see alivecommunities.net) to help us take the next step and get Common Good Bank™ funded and chartered. Their advice and assistance has been tremendously helpful in simplifying and speeding our path forward. Our home page already reflects our new simplified messaging strategy. We will be announcing a variety of additional exciting changes over the next couple months.Java Techs
Common Good Finance is developing open source banking software, specifically geared to the Common Good Bank project. We are actively seeking Java EE/SOA software engineers with experience using the Spring Framework. If you know someone who would be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them.Losing Tom
I am very sad to report that our beloved friend, mentor and founding board member Tom MacLean died of pneumonia last Sunday. He had cheerfully fought cancer for several years. He would have been 85 last Tuesday.Tom was a dear friend and mentor to me (as he was to many of us), an inspiring example of how to live gently on the Earth and lovingly in community.
Tom was all about community, common good, and even common fate. The name "Common Good Bank" was his idea.
For those of you in the Northeast of the United States, there will be a potluck celebration of Tom’s life this Sunday, August 29, at 4:00pm at Woolman Hill Conference Center in Deerfield, Masschusetts.
Thank you for reading and thank you for supporting the Common Good Bank community Project.
Wishing you happiness and prosperity throughout the year,
Sincerely,
William Spademan
