Say hello to Sarah Noyes
our new Program Assistant
We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Noyes has joined us as our new Program Assistant. Sarah will be seeking endorsements, talking to potential investors, overseeing volunteers, and pushing us forward in every aspect of the Common Good Bank project. [If you are wondering what those various aspects are, take a look at our Project Map or our Strategic Plan].
As an experienced entrepreneur, union organizer, and alternative economics organizer in Portland Oregon, Sarah edged out a half dozen other amazing candidates for the job. She has a BA in Family & Human Services from the University of Oregon, an MA in Organizational Development from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and a wide diversity of post-graduate studies in business, interpersonal, and organizational skills. But alternative finance is Sarah's passion. She wrote recently in Alternatives Magazine:
"Other than the natural and biological systems of which we all partake, there is no system more fundamental to what it means to be human than our ability to work and participate in the exchange of goods and services."
We have enough funds to keep Sarah going through August. We still need to raise $7,500 to support her work for the whole year. If you can help with that please visit our donation page and get your name on the plaque!

Sad News
I am very sad to report that our beloved friend and advisory board member Julie Graham died this month from complications of throat cancer. Julie was a powerhouse, a dear soul, and an inspiration to many hundreds of students and colleagues in feminism and alternative economics.Julie lived in Shutesbury, Massachusetts and was a professor of geography at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. There is a lovely tribute to her online at forjuliegraham.wordpress.com.
The Common Good Bank Project is lucky to be one of the many initiatives that Julie contributed to. As we move forward, we honor Julie's life by carrying on with her work.
Thank you for reading and thank you for supporting the Common Good Bank Project.
Wishing you happiness and prosperity throughout the year,
Sincerely,
William Spademan
